
Saraswati Pooja Extravaganza: Vasant Panchami Celebrated Across Telugu States
Vasant Panchami festivities are being celebrated with great splendor across Telugu states. Devotees thronged temples to mark the birthday of Goddess of Learning, Saraswati , bringing their children for the traditional Aksharabhyasam, the initiation of letters.
Temples such as Basara Gnana Saraswati Temple in Nirmal and Kanaka Durga Temple in Vijayawada witnessed massive crowds. From the early hours, devotees took holy dips in the Godavari and Krishna rivers , offered prayers, and guided their children in the first lessons of learning. Temple authorities arranged special queues and facilities to manage the crowds. The recitation of Vedic mantras by children and priests created a profoundly spiritual ambiance.
In Basara, Nirmal district, the celebrations reached their peak. Shailaja Ramaiyer , Principal Secretary of the Endowments Department, on behalf of the Telangana government, visited the temple to offer prayers. The government presented silk robes to the deity as part of special rituals. Devotees believe that worshipping Goddess Saraswati on Vasant Panchami brings extraordinary blessings.
Special Abhishekams and decorations were carried out, accompanied by Vedic chants. Shailaja Ramaiyer highlighted that the Basara temple is not only a spiritual hub for Telangana but also nationally renowned. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening its development.
A master plan worth ₹200 crore is being prepared for comprehensive temple development, focusing on improved facilities for devotees, accommodation, hygiene, and transport. The plan also anticipates increasing future footfall. Preparations for the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams were also confirmed, ensuring smooth pilgrim experiences, safety, and facilities. Temple officials, Endowments Department staff, and public representatives actively participated in the event.
Nirmal District Collector Abhilash Abhinav , along with his family, visited the Basara temple. The collector performed the Aksharabhyasam for his child, welcoming the sacred day of learning at the goddess’s feet.
Vibrant Devotion at Indrakeeladri – Kanaka Durga Temple
Vasant Panchami brought a festive spirit to educational and spiritual centers across the state. The Kanaka Durga Temple on Indrakeeladri , Vijayawada, was bustling with thousands of devotees. Students came in large numbers to seek blessings from Goddess Saraswati. Similarly, in Kolanu Bharati Temple, Nandyal , celebrations were equally grand.
Over 25,000 students visited the Indrakeeladri temple from dawn, praying for success in studies and a bright future. Temple authorities organized special arrangements for students and parents standing in long queues.
The mahamandapam on the temple’s upper floor was beautifully decorated. Under the guidance of EO V.K. Seena Nayak and Trust Board Chairman Borra Radhakrishna, pens and prasadam were distributed to students. Vedic rituals, including Saraswati Mantra Havan , resonated throughout the temple premises. In nearby Trishakti Peeth, children participated in large-scale Aksharabhyasam programs.
At Kolanu Bharati Temple, Nandyal , silk robes from Srisailam Devasthanam were presented to the goddess by MLA Gitta Jayasurya and Chairman Ramesh Naidu. Special rituals and decorations enchanted devotees. EO Phaneendra Prasad supervised extensive arrangements to ensure comfort for all visitors.
Overall, the main temples across Telugu states were filled with spiritual energy , honoring the Goddess of Knowledge and inspiring devotion among all attendees.
