Sanjay Raut Slams PM Modi’s Silence, Says India Has Lost Its Existence in West Asia Conflict
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has criticised the Centre over its response to the escalating conflict in West Asia , claiming that India has “completely lost its existence” amid the unfolding geopolitical developments involving Iran , Israel and the United States .
In his weekly column ‘Rokthok’ published in the Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece Saamana , the Rajya Sabha MP said India should have taken a proactive diplomatic role in attempting to stop the conflict. According to him, the escalating war has exposed what he described as the “hollowness of Indian leadership” on the global stage.
He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not publicly addressing the crisis. He said that despite the seriousness of the situation and its potential global implications , India has not clearly articulated its position or attempted to lead international efforts to reduce tensions.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region following coordinated military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, which triggered retaliatory attacks from Iran. The conflict has intensified instability across West Asia , raising concerns about the possibility of a wider regional war.
Referring to US President Donald Trump and Israeli leadership, he alleged that Washington and Tel Aviv were behaving like “global bullies.” He claimed they believed Iran could be quickly subdued following attacks that reportedly killed several Iranian leaders and senior military officials .
However, he said Iran has continued to retaliate against Israel, indicating that the conflict is far from over.
The ongoing tensions have also triggered economic concerns globally, particularly due to fears of disruption in oil supplies through the strategic Strait of Hormuz , a key route for global oil trade . He argued that India, which maintains ties with both Iran and Israel, could have played a mediating role instead of remaining largely silent during the crisis.
