Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Animal , directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga , is all set to make its Japanese theatrical debut on February 13, 2026 . The film will be distributed in Japan by Geek Pictures , expanding its international footprint more than two years after its original release in India.

Released in December 2023 , Animal turned into a massive box-office success, earning ₹918 crore worldwide . The film traces the intense and obsessive relationship between a father and his son, a bond that gradually spirals into violence and emotional conflict. Ranbir Kapoor’s portrayal of the troubled protagonist was widely discussed for its physical intensity and psychological depth.

The film features Anil Kapoor as the emotionally distant father, alongside Bobby Deol in a striking antagonist role. Rashmika Mandanna and Triptii Dimri play key characters that add emotional layers to the narrative.

While Animal received praise for its raw storytelling, stylised action, and powerful performances, it also sparked debate for its graphic violence and themes that drew criticism from sections of the audience. Despite the polarising response, the film maintained strong audience engagement and cultural impact.

Ahead of its Japan release, fans have been actively discussing the film online, with some humorously connecting its arrival to Ranbir Kapoor’s earlier viral popularity in the country, adding to the anticipation around its theatrical run.
