Sanathnagar TIMS Nears Completion, Govt Aims for Ugadi Launch
Telangana Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Tuesday inspected the under-construction Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospital at Sanathnagar and directed officials to make the facility fully operational with all amenities by Ugadi . The minister conducted a review meeting in the emergency block with senior officials from the medical , fire services , pollution control , water supply , electricity , and Roads & Buildings departments to assess progress and address pending works.
He emphasized that uninterrupted water and power supply must be ensured and instructed departments to put systems in place for round-the-clock services so the hospital can function efficiently from day one. Stressing patient safety, he ordered fire department officials to carry out comprehensive inspections on every floor and ensure strict compliance with fire safety norms , stating that there should be no compromise on safety standards.
During the visit, the minister inspected key patient service areas including the reception, help desk, outpatient (OP) counters, waiting hall, consultation rooms, diagnostic units , inpatient wards, and pharmacy. Anticipating heavy patient flow, he advised officials to increase the number of OP and pharmacy counters to minimize waiting time and improve service delivery.
Rajanarasimha also reviewed advanced diagnostic facilities such as CT scan , MRI , X-ray , and ultrasound equipment and directed authorities to ensure the availability of qualified doctors, technicians, and support staff so that the modern systems are fully utilized.
The Sanathnagar TIMS is being developed as a major tertiary-care government hospital designed to deliver corporate-level healthcare free or at affordable cost. It will house multiple specialty departments and modern infrastructure, strengthening Hyderabad’s public healthcare network. The facility is part of the state government’s broader strategy to expand advanced medical infrastructure and reduce pressure on existing government hospitals.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to public health, the minister said the primary objective is to provide quality medical care, particularly benefiting economically weaker sections.
