Samsung is reportedly bringing a new privacy-focused feature to its upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, according to the latest One UI 8.5 beta firmware. Dubbed Privacy Display , the functionality is designed to reduce the visibility of the phone’s screen when viewed from side angles, offering enhanced protection against prying eyes.

The feature, spotted in the Samsung Tips app , can be activated manually through the Settings or Quick Panel toggle , or automated using Samsung’s Modes and Routines app. Users can set conditions, such as location, to enable the feature automatically in public spaces.

The technology behind Privacy Display reportedly requires Samsung Display’s Flex Magic Pixel technology , which controls pixel brightness and directionality to obscure side-angle viewing. While it is currently unclear if the feature will be available on all Galaxy S26 models, it is expected to debut on the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra .

The Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to launch in February 2026 alongside the standard and Plus variants. Rumored specifications include a 6.9-inch M14 Quad HD+ CoE Dynamic AMOLED display with peak brightness of 2,600 nits, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset , up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage , a 5,000mAh battery , quad-rear cameras , and 60W wired fast charging .

Experts say the Privacy Display could be a significant addition for users concerned about digital privacy , particularly in public places like buses, trains, and cafes. By automatically dimming or darkening the display when viewed from the side, Samsung aims to give users more control over who sees their content .

With this feature, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to set a new benchmark for privacy-centric smartphone technology .
