Congress candidate for the Hyderabad-Rangareddy-Mahabubnagar Graduates' MLC constituency, Sama Ram Mohan Reddy, has urged the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to immediately resolve technical issues affecting its official website and restore the graduate voter registration process. He submitted a representation to the CEO on Monday, pointing out that the disruption was preventing thousands of eligible graduates from enrolling ahead of the November 6 deadline.

Sama said the CEO Telangana website had remained inaccessible since Sunday, bringing the online registration process for the upcoming Graduates' MLC elections to a standstill. He expressed concern that the technical failure had occurred at a critical stage, leaving eligible voters with limited time to complete the mandatory registration formalities.

With the final date for enrolment approaching, he said the disruption could result in several qualified graduates missing the opportunity to register as voters. He urged the election authorities to treat the matter as an urgent priority, restore the website and ensure that online registration services resume without further delay.

He also requested the Election Commission to extend the registration deadline by the number of days the website remained non-functional. Such an extension would provide affected applicants with sufficient time to complete the process and ensure that technical difficulties did not deprive eligible graduates of their electoral rights.

Meanwhile, Sama Ram Mohan Reddy extended his support to the hunger strike organised by IDBI Bank employees at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park on Monday. The employees were protesting against the proposed privatisation of IDBI Bank and the Centre's approach towards the institution.

Addressing the protesters, Sama questioned the rationale behind the government's decision to privatise the bank despite its improved financial performance. He recalled that the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) was brought in as a partner when IDBI Bank was struggling financially. However, after the institution began recording consecutive profits, the Centre was now seeking to transfer its ownership to private players.

He alleged that the BJP-led government was attempting to hand over the bank to Fairfax at a lower valuation, allegedly overlooking established procedures. Strongly opposing the proposed transaction, he demanded that the government safeguard employees' rights and protect the institution from privatisation.
