Patiala turned into the stage of redemption for Sakshi Chaudhary , as the 25 year old boxer delivered a fearless and disciplined performance to secure her place in both the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games in the highly competitive 51kg category .

Entering the selection trials carrying the weight of recent disappointments, Sakshi adopted a clear mindset: do or die . That determination translated into one of the most impressive runs of her career as she defeated two world champions in consecutive bouts to book her berth in both major multi-sport events.

Her journey to this moment had been filled with setbacks. A round of 16 exit at the World Championships , an underwhelming national performance, and a missed opportunity for Asian Championships selection in the 54kg category had pushed her to the edge of uncertainty.

In response, Sakshi made a decisive and risky move, dropping down to 51kg , a category known for its speed and elite competition, including names like Nikhat Zareen .

The change proved transformative.

At the trials, she first overcame Tanu in the quarterfinals before producing a standout performance against Nikhat Zareen . Using discipline and smart ring control, Sakshi maintained distance and relied on her sharp left jab to neutralise aggression.

“I focused on my range and trusted my game plan,” she said.

She repeated the strategy successfully against reigning world champion Minakshi , showcasing composure and tactical clarity under pressure.

Once struggling for consistency, Sakshi now finds herself back in the spotlight. Her bold shift in weight category has not only revived her career but also placed her among India’s key contenders heading into two major international events.
