V.C. Sajjanar officially took charge as the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, on Tuesday. Sharing his thoughts on ‘X’, Sajjanar described his appointment as both a great honor and a huge responsibility. He expressed pride in being entrusted with maintaining law and order in a large and rapidly growing city like Hyderabad.

Public safety is the top priority Sajjanar emphasized that the primary goal of the police is to ensure that all residents can live without fear and with confidence. He stated that his focus will be on strengthening the existing police system, ensuring quick response across all areas, using modern technology effectively, and promoting social justice. According to him, policing is not just about enforcing the law - it is about being among the people, fostering a sense of security, and providing service rooted in ethical values. “My priority is to stay close to the people,” he said, promising that every police station would be more accessible and that officers would respond courteously.

Protecting all sections of society Sajjanar highlighted the importance of protecting women, children, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups while upholding democratic values. Special attention will be given to addressing crimes against women, preventing psychological harassment, and tackling threats like drug mafias.

Technology-driven policing He also announced plans to strengthen “smart policing” through technology. Initiatives will include expanding the CCTV network, using data analytics for crime prevention, and designing community policing programs. Public participation, he said, would be central to these efforts. The police aim to work closely with citizens, respond to concerns raised through social media, and run programs to raise legal awareness among the youth.
