A recruitment notification for 124 Management Trainee (Technical) posts has been issued by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Online applications have been invited from 15 November to 15 December 2025, and engineering graduates meeting the prescribed criteria have been permitted to apply through the official portals sail.co.in and sailcareers.com.

According to the notification, the vacancies have been distributed across seven engineering disciplines. The highest number of posts have been offered in Electrical (44), followed by Mechanical (30) and Metallurgy (20). Other disciplines notified include Chemical (5), Civil (14), Computer (4), and Instrumentation (7).

Applicants are required to hold a B.E./B.Tech degree with a minimum of 65% marks, calculated as the average of all semesters, irrespective of the weightage assigned by the university. The maximum age has been fixed at 28 years as on 15 December 2025, meaning candidates born earlier than 5 December 1997 will not be eligible.

For departmental candidates, the upper age limit has been placed at 45 years, while other relaxations will be applied under government norms.

During the training period, selected candidates will be placed at a basic pay of ₹50,000 per month, in the pay scale of ₹50,000–1,60,000. After the successful completion of one year of training, they will be appointed as Assistant Managers (E-1 grade), with a revised pay scale of ₹60,000–1,80,000.

Dearness Allowance, cafeteria-based perquisites, Provident Fund, Gratuity, Housing/HRA, leave encashment, and medical facilities for self and dependents will also be extended as per company rules. SAIL has indicated that the annual CTC at the minimum of E-1 grade is expected to be around ₹16–17 lakh, excluding performance-related and location-based allowances.

An online fee of ₹1,050 has been prescribed for General, OBC (NCL), and EWS candidates. A reduced fee of ₹300 has been set for SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-servicemen, and departmental candidates.

A Computer-Based Test (CBT) will be conducted tentatively in January–February 2026. The exam will be held in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, and others. Requests for a change of examination centre will not be accepted after final submission.

The Computer-Based Test (CBT) will carry a total of 200 marks and will be conducted in two parts: Part I, the Domain Knowledge Test, will consist of 100 marks with a duration of 40 minutes, while Part II, the Aptitude Test, will also carry 100 marks and will be conducted for 80 minutes, covering Quantitative Aptitude, English, Reasoning, and General Awareness with 25 marks allotted to each section. To qualify for the next stage, candidates in the UR and EWS categories must secure a minimum of 50 percentile in each part, whereas candidates from SC, ST, OBC (NCL), and PwBD categories must obtain at least 40 percentile in each part. Those who meet the prescribed percentile criteria will be shortlisted for Group Discussion and Interview in a 1:3 ratio, based on their discipline and category. The final merit list will be prepared by assigning 75% weightage to the CBT, 10% to the Group Discussion, and 15% to the Interview. In the event of a tie in final scores, preference will be given to candidates with higher marks in the CBT, and if the tie still persists, higher marks in the qualifying engineering degree will be considered.

Applications must be submitted exclusively through the SAIL Careers portal.

Candidates have been advised to read the notification and user manual carefully, create a login, and complete the application as instructed. All registrations will be treated as provisional , and eligibility will be verified only during the GD/Interview stage. Any discrepancy may lead to cancellation of candidature at any stage.
