
SAIL announces 124 Management Trainee Vacancies
The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has officially announced the recruitment of 124 Management Trainee (Technical) positions, inviting eligible candidates to apply online between November 15 and December 5, 2025. Interested candidates with a B.Tech or B.E degree in relevant engineering disciplines can submit their applications through the official SAIL website at sail.co.in or sailcareers.com .
The vacancies are spread across seven engineering disciplines: Chemical (5), Civil (14), Computer (4), Electrical (44), Instrumentation (7), Mechanical (30), and Metallurgy (20). Candidates must have secured a minimum of 65% marks in their engineering degree, calculated as the average across all semesters. The maximum age limit for general candidates is 28 years as of December 5, 2025, with age relaxation provided according to standard government norms. Departmental candidates may apply up to 45 years of age.
Selected Management Trainees will be offered a starting basic pay of ₹50,000 per month, with a pay scale ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1,60,000. Upon successful completion of a one-year training program, trainees will be designated as Assistant Manager in E1 grade, with a revised pay scale of ₹60,000–₹1,80,000. Additional benefits include Dearness Allowance, Provident Fund, Gratuity, housing allowances, leave encashment, and free medical facilities for employees and dependents. The estimated CTC is approximately ₹16–17 lakh per annum, excluding location-based allowances and performance-related pay.
The application fee is ₹1,050 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and ₹300 for SC/ST/PwBD/ESM/Departmental candidates, payable online.
The selection process comprises an Online Computer-Based Test (CBT), tentatively scheduled for January–February 2026, across major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, and Lucknow. The CBT will consist of 200 marks, divided equally into Domain Knowledge (100 marks, 40 minutes) and Aptitude Test (100 marks, 80 minutes) covering Quantitative Aptitude, English, Reasoning, and General Awareness. Candidates must meet minimum percentile requirements 50 percentile for UR/EWS and 40 percentile for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD to qualify for the next stage.
Shortlisted candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview in a 1:3 ratio, discipline and category-wise. The final merit list will be prepared based on CBT (75%), Group Discussion (10%), and Interview (15%). In the event of a tie, preference will be given to candidates with higher CBT scores, followed by higher marks in the qualifying engineering degree.
