Sai Sudharsan, Rabada Power Gujarat Titans to Dominant Win Over SRH
Gujarat Titans produced a commanding all-round performance to crush Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs and climb to the top of the IPL points table, extending their winning streak to five matches with a statement victory in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.
On a challenging two-paced surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat adapted far better than the visitors, with disciplined batting followed by a devastating pace attack that completely dismantled Hyderabad’s explosive batting lineup.
After being asked to bat first, GT recovered from an uncertain start through a composed innings from Sai Sudharsan , who once again emerged as the backbone of the batting unit. The left-hander scored a patient yet impactful 61 off 44 deliveries, striking five fours and two sixes while carefully navigating difficult conditions.
Gujarat suffered early setbacks after losing skipper Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler cheaply inside the powerplay. SRH pacer Praful Hinge exploited the surface brilliantly to reduce the hosts to 34 for 2 in six overs.
However, Sudharsan steadied the innings with smart strike rotation before finding strong support from Washington Sundar , who delivered one of his best knocks for the franchise. Facing his former team, Washington played fluently for his 50 off 33 balls, smashing seven boundaries and a six. The pair added a crucial 60-run partnership that shifted momentum firmly in Gujarat’s favour and guided the side to a competitive 168 for 7.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s chase never gained momentum as Gujarat’s fast bowlers ripped through the top order. Mohammed Siraj struck immediately with a wicket-maiden over, dismissing dangerous opener Travis Head , before Kagiso Rabada took complete control with a fiery spell of fast bowling.
Rabada removed Abhishek Sharma , Ishan Kishan , and R Smaran during a destructive powerplay burst, leaving SRH struggling at 32 for 4. The South African pacer finished with impressive figures of 3 for 28.
With Hyderabad already under pressure, Jason Holder ensured there was no comeback. Exploiting uneven bounce expertly, Holder dismissed Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy , finishing with 3 for 20. Prasidh Krishna also chipped in with two wickets as SRH collapsed to 86 all out in just 14.5 overs.
SRH captain Pat Cummins top-scored with 19 in what turned out to be a forgettable evening for the visitors, while Gujarat Titans further strengthened their credentials as one of the strongest contenders for the IPL title this season.
