Sai Pallavi's Flop Film Ek Din Finally Lands on OTT With Two Unexpected Twists
Sai Pallavi may be busy with big-ticket films like Ramayana and OM , but one of her lesser-known Bollywood outings has quietly returned to the spotlight. Her romantic drama Ek Din , which failed to impress at the box office earlier this year, has finally made its OTT debut. However, its digital release comes with two unexpected catches that have left fans surprised.
The biggest twist is that Ek Din is not streaming in India . Instead, the film has been released only for international audiences , and even overseas viewers cannot stream it as part of a subscription. The romantic drama is currently available only on a rental basis , making it one of the most unusual OTT rollouts for a recent Hindi film. Adding to the surprise, international viewers can also watch the film in Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions , with the Telugu version titled Oka Roju .
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions , with Aamir Khan , Mansoor Khan , and Aparna Purohit backing the project, Ek Din marked Sai Pallavi's official Hindi film debut opposite Junaid Khan , son of Aamir Khan. Directed by Sunil Pandey , the film is the official Indian adaptation of the acclaimed Thai romantic fantasy One Day . The screenplay was adapted by Sneha Desai and Spandan Mishra , while Ram Sampath composed the music.
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Japan's Sapporo Snow Festival , the film tells the story of an introverted young man whose wish to spend just one perfect day with the woman he loves unexpectedly comes true. The picturesque snow-covered locations became one of the film's biggest highlights, with much of the shooting completed in Japan before production moved to Mumbai.
Despite generating excitement for the fresh pairing of Sai Pallavi and Junaid Khan , the film struggled to connect with audiences after its theatrical release on May 1, 2026 . Made on a reported budget of around ₹15 crore , Ek Din earned only about ₹4.9 crore worldwide , making it one of the year's biggest box office disappointments. Critics praised Sai Pallavi's performance as the film's strongest asset, even though reviews for the overall film were mixed. The Telugu dubbed version, Oka Roju , performed even more poorly in cinemas.
The film's journey wasn't entirely smooth even before release. Its first-look poster drew criticism on social media, with some users claiming it closely resembled the poster of the original Thai film. The makers, however, went ahead with the release, banking on the emotional romance and the lead pair's chemistry.
