Sai Pallavi has officially come on board D55 , the highly anticipated Tamil film starring Dhanush , marking her second collaboration with the actor after the hit Maari 2 . The announcement was made on Monday, ending weeks of speculation about her participation in the project directed by Rajkumar Periasamy .

The film also introduces Sreeleela alongside Dhanush, sharing screen space with him for the first time. D55 is being co-produced by Wunderbar Films , Dhanush’s production banner, in partnership with another production house. While the makers are yet to reveal the film’s official title and release date, updates on the cast and crew have kept fans engaged. Sreeleela’s casting was announced earlier, followed by the confirmation of Sai Pallavi’s involvement. The makers shared the news on social media, describing her as “ grace and strength - all at once ,” welcoming the actor to the project.

Sai Pallavi reunites with director Rajkumar Periasamy , with whom she previously worked on Amaran opposite Sivakarthikeyan , making D55 their second collaboration. Her on-screen pairing with Dhanush remains popular, especially after the success of their song ‘Rowdy Baby’ from Maari 2, which continues to enjoy widespread acclaim.

There have been rumours about Malayalam superstar Mammootty joining the film after completing his ongoing commitments, though no official confirmation has been made. The film’s music will be composed by Sai Abhyankar , further heightening anticipation. As of now, the project continues to be referred to as D55 , marking Dhanush’s 55th film as a lead actor. Updates on the remaining cast, film title, and release schedule are expected in the coming weeks.

On the professional front, Sai Pallavi recently won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Gargi , reaffirming her status as one of the most sought-after actors in contemporary cinema. She also has several projects lined up, including her Bollywood debut in Ek Din opposite Junaid Khan and the eagerly awaited Ramayana films .
