‘Sahaa’ Faces Screen Crunch In Hyderabad Amid Crowded Release Week

Sahaa hit theatres on September 4 alongside several other Telugu releases, but the Shiva Kumar Kasaram and Swetha Lakshman starrer is facing a tough battle for screens, particularly in Hyderabad. The film had generated buzz ahead of release after the lead actors made bold challenges about the audience’s response.

Following the release, the team began visiting theatres to thank audiences. During one such interaction, actor Shiva Kumar Kasaram expressed disappointment over the film’s show allocations in Hyderabad. He claimed that the film was given only a limited number of theatres and that several of its shows were scheduled during morning and afternoon slots.

According to the actor, smaller films such as Sahaa depend heavily on evening and night shows, when audiences are more likely to visit theatres. He appealed for stronger show allocations if the film manages to demonstrate demand.

The scheduling challenge comes amid an unusually crowded release window. Sahaa arrived alongside Romanchakam, I'm Game, Immortal, Ramba Oorvasi Menaka and BharataVarsha, while Ravi Teja’s Irumudi continued its strong theatrical run.

The latest numbers, however, suggest that Sahaa has yet to generate the kind of demand required for exhibitors to substantially increase its shows. According to TrackTollywood, the film collected an estimated Rs 4.54 lakh on its first day from 121 tracked shows across 32 cities, with 10% occupancy. On Saturday, the film had collected around Rs 1.98 lakh from 47 tracked shows by midday, taking its tracked total to Rs 8.71 lakh.

This makes the immediate weekend crucial for the film. With multiple new releases competing for screens and Irumudi continuing to attract audiences, exhibitors are likely to assess Sahaa based on occupancy and ticket demand rather than simply increasing shows.

For the film to gain additional evening and night slots, it will need to convert the shows already allotted into strong occupancy. If demand improves over the weekend, multiplexes and theatres could consider adding more shows. Otherwise, the limited screen allocation could remain a major hurdle for the film’s theatrical run.
