Safe Drinking Water for Every Home by 2028 with JJM 2.0: CM Chandrababu

The Andhra Pradesh government has stepped up efforts to provide uninterrupted safe drinking water to every household under the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative. A key agreement for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0 was signed on Tuesday between the Centre and the state in Delhi. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan joined the event virtually, while Union Minister CR Patil was present at the venue.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the government is focusing on strengthening rural water supply systems by entrusting maintenance responsibilities to panchayats under a policy introduced in September 2025. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for extending the mission deadline to 2028 and sought central support to complete the Polavaram project by the time of the Godavari Pushkaralu.

Union Minister CR Patil stated that tap connections have already been provided to a majority of households across the country, and the remaining homes will be covered under JJM 2.0. He suggested involving DWCRA women in water quality monitoring in Andhra Pradesh and said a virtual review meeting with district collectors will be held soon to guide implementation.

Senior officials from the Centre and the state attended the event, where the Centre also advised using funds from central missions to improve water supply in remote areas. The agreement is expected to speed up the expansion of drinking water infrastructure across the state.
