Russia’s Rostec reaffirms support for India’s defence needs

Russia’s state-owned defence conglomerate Rostec has reiterated its long-standing commitment to India’s military requirements, signalling deeper collaboration in defence manufacturing, advanced weapons systems, and strategic partnerships. Speaking at the Dubai Airshow 2025, Rostec CEO Sergey Chemezov emphasized that Russia remains fully open to supporting India’s defence goals and strengthening bilateral ties. He said that Russia is prepared to supply any defence equipment India needs and is willing to enhance cooperation in joint production and indigenous manufacturing.

Chemezov’s remarks come at a time when India is aggressively pushing its defence modernization programme and seeking to expand domestic production under the Make in India initiative. His assurance highlights Moscow’s readiness to cooperate not just in arms supply but also in technology transfer, co-development, and local production of sophisticated defence equipment. According to industry observers, this aligns with India’s aspiration to advance its capabilities in aerospace, missile systems, and advanced combat platforms.

The announcement also holds strategic significance against the backdrop of shifting global defence supply dynamics and growing geopolitical pressures.
