‘Run for Social Justice’ rally highlights BC reservation demand in Hyd

The “Run for Social Justice” organised in Hyderabad by the BC Joint Action Committee (JAC) drew a massive response on Sunday, as thousands participated demanding 42% reservations for Backward Classes in education, employment, and political representation. The rally began at Basheerbagh and concluded at the Ambedkar statue on Tank Bund.

Members from various BC organisations, youth, students, and social activists took part in the event. The programme was jointly organised by the BC JAC and several BC community associations.

Former Minister V. Srinivas Goud, former MP V. Hanumantha Rao, BC JAC Working Chairman Jajula Srinivas Goud, BC leader Gujja Krishna, and representatives from multiple BC caste organisations were present. Speakers emphasised that BC communities have still not received their rightful share in opportunities, and insisted that implementing 42% reservation is essential for ensuring social justice.

Speaking to the media after the run, former minister Srinivas Goud said that the movement would continue until the 42% reservation bill for BCs is passed in the Legislature. He demanded that upcoming local body elections in the state should be conducted only after the bill is approved. He reminded the government that providing opportunities proportionate to the BC population is its responsibility.

He added that the economic, social, and political progress of BCs is crucial for the nation’s development and that a fair reservation system is the only way to correct long-standing injustices faced by these communities. He urged the government to act immediately to address these issues.

BC JAC leaders stated that the run was not just a symbolic event but a beginning of a larger movement. The heavy turnout of BC youth demonstrated a collective commitment to achieving proper reservation rights. The event concluded peacefully and energetically, once again bringing the BC reservation issue to the forefront of state politics.
