The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has significantly expanded its footprint in Telangana over the past year, reflecting a broader national push to deepen grassroots engagement ahead of its centenary outreach drive.

According to RSS functionaries, the number of daily shakhas in the state has increased to around 3,400 , with nearly 300 new units added in the last year alone . The steady rise highlights the organisation’s growing presence across both urban centres and rural regions , where participation in local activities has been on the upswing.

Details of the expansion were shared by Telangana RSS leaders following the recent Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) held in Haryana from March 13 to 15. The annual meeting, which serves as the organisation’s top decision-making platform, reviewed nationwide growth and laid out a roadmap for further expansion.

At the national level, the RSS has also reported a notable surge in its network, with thousands of new shakhas added across the country , taking the overall number to well over 80,000 units . The organisation continues to rely on the shakha system as its core mechanism for daily engagement, training, and community outreach.

As part of its upcoming initiatives, the RSS will organise ‘Hindu Sammelan’ programmes between March 25 and mid-April across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. These events are aimed at strengthening social connect and expanding outreach at the grassroots level.

The current expansion drive is closely tied to the RSS’s centenary milestone , with the organisation planning year-long programmes culminating on Vijayadashami . Leaders said detailed plans have been drawn up to take these celebrations to every corner of Telangana, with a focus on increasing participation and visibility.

Observers note that the RSS is pursuing a multi-pronged strategy , combining organisational growth with community engagement initiatives, as it seeks to further consolidate its presence in emerging regions like Telangana.
