Royal Enfield Bets ₹2,500 Crore on AP With Mega Tirupati Manufacturing Hub

In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial ambitions, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has announced that Royal Enfield is planning to establish a massive integrated motorcycle manufacturing facility in Tirupati district with a proposed investment of nearly ₹2,500 crore . The project is expected to strengthen the state’s position as an emerging hub for future mobility, EV manufacturing, and advanced industrial growth .

The proposed facility will come up at Vaneluru and Rallakuppam villages in Satyavedu mandal near the Andhra Pradesh–Tamil Nadu border, close to the industrial corridor around Tada. Spread across nearly 267 acres , the project is planned as a large integrated manufacturing ecosystem rather than a standalone factory.

After meeting a delegation led by Royal Enfield CEO B Govindarajan , Naidu said the facility would have the capacity to manufacture up to nine lakh motorcycles annually . The project is also expected to generate around 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities , while attracting ancillary industries, auto-component manufacturers, logistics firms, and suppliers to the region.

According to the Chief Minister, the proposed hub will include a state-of-the-art manufacturing plant, testing track, research and development centre, and a dedicated vendor park ecosystem . He assured the company of faster approvals and expedited clearances under Andhra Pradesh’s “speed-of-doing-business” model. Though the company proposed a 24-month execution schedule, Naidu said the state aims to facilitate completion within 18 months .

The Andhra Pradesh facility is particularly significant because it would become Royal Enfield’s first major manufacturing expansion outside Tamil Nadu , where the company currently operates all its existing factories. At the same time, the motorcycle maker is also investing nearly ₹958 crore in expanding its Cheyyar facility in Tamil Nadu to meet growing domestic and export demand.

Discussions between the state government and Royal Enfield also focused heavily on electric mobility and sustainable manufacturing . Naidu welcomed the company’s recently unveiled electric motorcycle platform and promised strong support for its EV journey through Andhra Pradesh’s growing renewable energy ecosystem, including investments in solar power, wind energy, pumped storage projects, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) .

While Royal Enfield has not officially confirmed EV production at the proposed Tirupati facility, industry observers believe the integrated campus is being designed with future electrification capabilities in mind. However, the project is still in the proposal stage and is yet to receive final environmental and regulatory clearances.
