Rolls-Royce, Bharat Forge expand partnership to manufacture fan blades for Pearl engines

Rolls-Royce has signed a new agreement with Bharat Forge Ltd to manufacture and supply fan blades for its advanced Pearl 700 and Pearl 10X engines, marking a significant step in the company’s strategy to deepen its supply chain and local partnerships in India.

The agreement, inked at Rolls-Royce’s Dahlewitz facility near Berlin, builds on the existing collaboration between the two firms. It reinforces Bharat Forge’s position as a key global supplier of precision aerospace components and aligns with Rolls-Royce’s plan to double its sourcing from India by 2030.

Sashi Mukundan, Executive Vice President Transformation, Rolls-Royce India, said the partnership aligns with India’s ‘Make in India’ vision. “This new contract reflects our commitment to developing world-class manufacturing capabilities in India, with a shared vision of delivering state-of-the-art aerospace components to the global supply chain ecosystem,” he said.

Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge Ltd, highlighted the partnership’s long-term value. “This expanded partnership with Rolls-Royce reflects our shared commitment to engineering excellence and long-term collaboration. We are proud to support the Pearl engine family, which represents the future of high-performance aviation,” Kalyani said.

A Growing Partnership :

The two companies began their collaboration in 2020, when Bharat Forge started supplying precision components for the Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engine programme. Since then, Bharat Forge has earned recognition for delivering high-quality, zero-defect fan blades, with its first such delivery recorded in 2024.

The new agreement expands this relationship to include the Pearl 10X engine, the most powerful in the Pearl family. Equipped with the Advance2 engine core, it delivers over 18,000 pounds of thrust, enabling some of the world’s fastest and most efficient business jets.

Impact on India’s Aerospace Sector :

The partnership represents another milestone in India’s growing role in global aerospace manufacturing. It promotes technology transfer, skill development, and local value creation, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
