Rolls-Royce, HAL Boost India’s Aerospace Supply Chain With Hosur Expansion
Rolls-Royce and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) on Wednesday expanded their aerospace manufacturing partnership with the inauguration of a new 12-acre production facility in Hosur, aimed at strengthening India’s role in the global aviation supply chain .
The facility, operated by International Aerospace Manufacturing Private Ltd (IAMPL), will manufacture advanced compressor and turbine components for civil and defence jet engines serving both domestic and international markets.
The joint venture, equally owned by Rolls-Royce and HAL, has been producing precision-engineered components for advanced jet engines since 2012. The Hosur expansion significantly boosts IAMPL’s manufacturing capacity and diversifies its product portfolio beyond its established operations in Bengaluru, where it supplies parts for Rolls-Royce’s Trent engine family.
Rolls-Royce India Executive Vice President Sashi Mukundan said the expansion reflects the company’s long-term commitment to “Make in India” and its broader strategy to position India as a strategic “home market” for aerospace manufacturing.
Mukundan said the company plans to increase sourcing from India ten-fold in line with future aerospace programmes and partnerships, adding that IAMPL has emerged as a benchmark facility within Rolls-Royce’s global manufacturing network.
HAL Chairman and Managing Director Ravi said the expanded facility would help strengthen indigenous aerospace capabilities and reinforce India’s position in the global aerospace and defence value chain.
IAMPL CEO Seenivasan Balasubramanian said the new facility would enhance the company’s ability to deliver high-precision components while building a resilient and efficient manufacturing ecosystem.
IAMPL has been part of Rolls-Royce’s high-performing global supplier group for the past five years.
