Rohit Shetty firing case: Crime Branch takes custody of five suspects

Five suspects have been detained in Pune in connection with the recent firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence , police officials confirmed on Sunday. The accused have now been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation.

According to Pune City Police, the detentions were made during coordinated searches based on intelligence inputs shared by Mumbai authorities. The suspects are expected to be questioned in detail to establish their role and possible links to the attack.

Earlier in the day, the Mumbai Crime Branch had constituted 12 special teams to track down those involved in the incident, indicating the seriousness with which the case is being treated.

The firing occurred in the early hours of Sunday , when unidentified assailants allegedly fired four rounds outside Shetty’s residential tower in the Juhu area before fleeing the spot. Soon after the gunshots were reported, heavy police security was deployed around the building.

Police and forensic teams secured the premises and conducted a detailed examination of the scene to collect evidence. Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported , and the filmmaker and his family were safe.

Investigators are currently probing the motive behind the attack, including whether it was meant to intimidate or threaten the director.
