Robert Vadra faces money laundering charges: Court reserves order
A Delhi court on Saturday reserved its order on taking cognisance of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) chargesheet filed against businessman Robert Vadra , husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra . The court is expected to deliver its decision on April 15 .
The case stems from a land transaction in Shikohpur, Haryana , where the ED alleges that certain financial dealings violated the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) . The chargesheet claims that funds were allegedly routed through various entities to conceal the source of income , triggering the investigation into potential money laundering and irregular transactions .
Special Judge Sushant Changotra , presiding over the matter, reserved the order after hearing arguments from both sides. The court took time to examine the submissions before passing its ruling.
Legal experts note that the decision to reserve the order allows the court to carefully scrutinise the evidence presented by the ED. If cognisance is taken, formal judicial proceedings under the PMLA will commence. Conversely, a refusal would halt the current legal action.
The case has drawn intense public and political attention due to Vadra’s ties to the Congress leadership. Observers say the court’s upcoming order could have significant implications for both the legal proceedings and political narratives surrounding the matter.
