American actor RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in the acclaimed television series Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34, according to media reports. His representatives confirmed his death, describing him as a beloved actor, philanthropist and disability rights advocate.

Mitte's death was reported on October 12. TMZ reported that he died by suicide, citing a county official. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been fully detailed publicly.

“It is with profound sadness we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his representatives told TMZ.

“Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy, Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability awareness and inclusion,” the statement said.

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of three, Mitte became an advocate for greater representation of people with disabilities in entertainment. He played Walter White Jr., the son of Bryan Cranston's character, across all five seasons of Breaking Bad, which aired from 2008 to 2013.

Beyond acting, he served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, supporting disability awareness and inclusion.

His honours included the SAG-AFTRA Harold Russell Award, recognising his contribution to disability representation. He was also part of the Breaking Bad ensemble that won the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2014.

Mitte appeared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast in an episode released on October 5, discussing his career, experiences on Breaking Bad and future projects. He also expressed interest in the possibility of revisiting the series' universe.

He was engaged to Kennedy Suarez. His recent work included Talking to Strangers, and he was associated with the upcoming film Forgotten Outlaw.

Mitte leaves behind a legacy that extended beyond television, particularly through his efforts to promote disability awareness and inclusion.
