Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer attended the 76th Constitution Day celebrations held on Wednesday at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor said Constitution Day is observed not only to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution but also to reinforce constitutional values among citizens. He noted that the Constitution plays a vital role in safeguarding fundamental rights and freedoms, ensuring equality, and protecting individual liberties.

Governor Nazeer emphasized that while the Constitution grants citizens several fundamental rights, these rights come with corresponding duties. “Rights and duties are two sides of the same coin, and every citizen must be mindful of the responsibilities that accompany the rights guaranteed to them,” he said.

Earlier, the Governor paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the principal architect of the Indian Constitution, and to the members of the Drafting Committee. He then led the attendees in reading the Preamble.

The event was attended by the First Lady of the State, Samira Nazeer, judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, senior judicial officers, heads of various statutory bodies, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, the Governor’s Special Chief Secretary, and other dignitaries.
