RGV booked in Rajahmundry over controversial remarks
Renowned filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has once again found himself in legal trouble. A complaint filed in Rajahmundry has led to a case being registered against him and the anchor of a TV channel who conducted the interview in which Varma made allegedly controversial remarks.
The complaint was lodged by lawyer and RPI president Meda Srinivas, who claimed that Varma’s statements insulted Hindu deities, epics, the Indian Army, and the people of Andhra Pradesh. According to Srinivas, the anchor deliberately asked provocative questions to encourage Varma’s comments. He also suggested that such actions might have been influenced by foreign elements seeking to create unrest.
Following the complaint, the Three Town Police Station in Rajahmundry registered Crime No. 487/2025 against Varma and the anchor under various sections, including BNS Act 196(1), 197(1), 353, 354, and 299 R/w (3). The police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
This is not the first time Varma has faced legal action; he has previously been booked in various cases across Telugu states and other regions for controversial statements and actions. The development has sparked discussions about the next steps in the ongoing investigation.
