The swearing-in ceremony of Keralam Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan on Monday turned into a major political gathering for the Congress, with senior leaders from across the country projecting unity and renewed confidence ahead of future national elections. The event also saw Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy openly backing Rahul Gandhi as the party’s prime ministerial face, saying Congress leaders were collectively working toward seeing him lead the country.

The ceremony in Thiruvananthapuram came days after the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) returned to power in Keralam, ending the Left Democratic Front’s decade-long rule. The victory is being viewed as one of the Congress party’s most significant electoral gains in recent years and has injected fresh momentum into the opposition camp.

Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka , attended the event alongside several senior Congress leaders, including Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu , former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel , and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar .

Sharing photographs from the gathering on social media platform X, Revanth Reddy described the atmosphere as a “reunion of friends and colleagues” filled with “hope, energy and enthusiasm.” He said Congress leaders across states were united by a common political objective.

“Our beloved leader Rahul Gandhi taking oath as Prime Minister is a shared dream that strengthens all of us,” Revanth said, stressing that Congress chief ministers and senior leaders would work together toward that goal.

Political observers believe the strong turnout of Congress leaders at the ceremony was aimed at showcasing organisational cohesion and reinforcing Rahul Gandhi’s central role in the party’s national strategy. The gathering also highlighted the Congress leadership’s effort to build stronger coordination among party-ruled states ahead of the next round of national political contests.

At the ceremony, Keralam Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to Satheesan and his council of ministers. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge , senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi , former Keralam Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan , Left leaders and BJP representatives were also present at the event.
