
Revanth Reddy Orders Major Power Sector Revamp in Telangana
As Telangana prepares for a wave of transformative projects from new industrial hubs to high-speed rail corridors and the ambitious Triple R , Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has launched an aggressive push to strengthen the state’s power infrastructure .
Calling for urgent action, the Chief Minister directed officials to accelerate the construction of substations to meet rising electricity demand . The decision was taken during a high-level review meeting attended by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, MP V. Narender Reddy, and senior officials.
With rapid growth in industries and data centers, he stressed the need for a robust and future-ready power system. He also urged faster approvals under the Green Energy Policy , ensuring that clearances for major projects are not delayed.
Highlighting investment needs, he said reliable power supply and an efficient approval system are key to attracting investors.
Focusing on renewable energy , the Chief Minister called for wider solar adoption at the grassroots level, including awareness programs for women’s self-help groups and promotion of solar-based solutions.
The government also plans pilot projects to set up solar plants alongside substations. Two units will be established in each of nine districts (excluding Hyderabad), taking the total to 18 projects, with nodal officers overseeing implementation.
Revanth Reddy further emphasized the use of artificial intelligence to improve demand forecasting, identify supply gaps, and enhance service efficiency.
He also directed officials to resolve employee concerns regarding their integration into the state’s power distribution system, ensuring clarity and confidence within the workforce.
