CM Revanth Reddy Invited for SPB Statue Unveiling

Veteran actor and SP Balasubrahmanyam’s brother-in-law, Shri Subhalekha Sudhakar, met Chief Minister Shri A. Revanth Reddy and formally invited him to unveil the statue of legendary playback singer, late Shri SP Balasubrahmanyam, at Ravindra Bharati on December 15.

The Telangana government recently announced its decision to install a statue of SP Balasubrahmanyam at the iconic cultural venue as a tribute to his lasting impact on Indian music. Senior officials, including Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, have already inspected the site and reviewed arrangements for the upcoming ceremony.

SP Balasubrahmanyam, who passed away in September 2020 due to COVID-19 complications, remains one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, with a career spanning over five decades and contributions across multiple languages and film industries. His music continues to influence generations of listeners and artists.

During the meeting, Subhalekha Sudhakar conveyed gratitude from the family, thanking the Chief Minister for approving the installation of the statue at Ravindra Bharati. He noted that the honour reflects the state’s recognition of SPB’s immense contribution to the arts. The statue unveiling on December 15 is expected to be a significant cultural event for Telangana and a heartfelt tribute to the legendary singer’s enduring legacy.
