Reliance Industries Limited is set to make significant investments in Andhra Pradesh. The state government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, announced on Friday that Reliance will establish a 1-gigawatt Artificial Intelligence (AI) data center in the state. The facility will host some of the world’s most advanced Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) for AI processing and will be designed as a cutting-edge, modular setup.

The Chief Minister shared the details via his X (formerly Twitter) account, noting that the Andhra Pradesh AI data center will work in coordination with Reliance’s existing data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Together, these two facilities are expected to form one of the most powerful AI infrastructure networks in Asia.

Solar power project

To ensure uninterrupted and stable power supply for the AI data center, Reliance plans to develop a 6-gigawatt peak solar power project in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative will not only double the state’s current ground-mounted solar capacity but will also contribute over 30% of the state’s total renewable energy production. The project is expected to fully harness Andhra Pradesh’s immense solar energy potential.

Food park in Rayalaseema

In addition, Reliance will establish a world-class, greenfield integrated food park in Rayalaseema. This automated facility will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs and provide stable income for many families in the region.

During the announcement, Chief Minister Chandrababu thanked Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani, describing the agreement as a milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s growth and innovation journey. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in the presence of IT Minister Nara Lokesh and Reliance Executive Director P.M.S. Prasad.

Speaking at the event, P.M.S. Prasad emphasized that Reliance’s goal in Andhra Pradesh goes beyond financial investment. The company aims to empower people by providing access to AI and technology through its MyZio app, making it easily accessible and affordable for students, farmers, and small business owners. He also noted that Reliance has already invested over $25 billion (approximately ₹2 lakh crore) in the state across sectors including oil, gas, digital services, and retail.
