Red Fort blast foils nationwide attack as Umar Un Nabi Dead, associates arrested

Security forces are intensifying investigations following the car explosion near the Red Fort, moving swiftly to prevent further terrorist activities. Authorities are probing the identities of module members, their connections, command structures, and the vehicles used in the plot. Officials confirmed that Dr. Umar Un Nabi died in the explosion. A joint team of forensic experts, Delhi Police, and central investigative agencies examined the blast site on Thursday, recovering human remains near New Rajpath Market, which have been sent for DNA testing.

Forensic analysis confirmed that the Hyundai i20 involved in the blast was driven by Dr. Umar Un Nabi. His DNA matched that of his mother’s sample, indicating that he died by suicide. Investigations have revealed that at least four doctors were allegedly planning multiple blasts across the country. So far, eight people, including three doctors (one female), have been arrested, while Umar Un Nabi died in the explosion. The module reportedly includes doctors, religious leaders, and businessmen, forming a transnational terror network. Following the i20 explosion, authorities recovered an EcoSport and a Brezza and are searching for additional vehicles.

Preliminary investigations show that the group had planned simultaneous attacks across multiple locations. The Red Fort blast disrupted this conspiracy, and the seizure of explosives in Faridabad further averted a potential large-scale attack. All recovered vehicles were confirmed to be linked to Umar Un Nabi’s module, while intelligence agencies revealed that preparations were underway to rig two older cars with explosives. CCTV footage shows Dr. Umar Un Nabi entering Delhi at the Badarpur toll plaza in the i20 car. Despite wearing a mask, authorities identified him clearly. A large bag was seen in the back seat, and he appeared aware of surveillance while making the payment.

Faridabad police arrested Fahim, a relative of Umar, who had parked the red EcoSport in Khandwali village before the blast. Fahim and Umar were in contact prior to the incident. In Kanpur, the UP ATS arrested medical student Mohammad Arif, reportedly linked to Dr. Shaheen Sayeed. Authorities also seized diaries from Dr. Umar and Dr. Mujammil, detailing attack plans between November 8–12 and listing 25 individuals from Jammu & Kashmir and Faridabad. The module had planned coordinated attacks in four major cities with operatives acting in pairs. Following these revelations, security agencies nationwide have been placed on high alert. The Red Fort blast is considered the first phase, as central agencies continue joint operations to dismantle the network.

In a separate incident on Thursday morning, residents near the Radisson Hotel in Mahipalpur reported a loud explosion around 9:18 AM. Police and fire services confirmed there was no damage or casualties. A security guard noted that a DTC bus’s rear tire had burst, causing the noise. Authorities stated that the situation was normal and there was no cause for alarm.
