The Intelligence Bureau (IB), India's premier domestic intelligence agency under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has released an official notification for the recruitment of 394 Junior Intelligence Officer (JIO) Grade-II/Technical positions. The Junior Intelligence Officer is a highly respected Group 'C' position. To be eligible for the Junior Intelligence Officer post, candidates must meet specific criteria regarding age and education.
• Age limit: The maximum age is 27 years for General/UR candidates. Age relaxation is applicable for OBC (up to 30 years) and SC/ST (up to 32 years) candidates.
• Educational qualification: Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications from a recognized university or institution:
• A 3-year Diploma in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electronics, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical & Electronics, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Instrumentation.
• A Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree with subjects including Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Electronics.
• A Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) degree.
It is important to note that students in their final year who are set to complete their degree or diploma by September 2025 are also eligible to apply.
The application process is entirely online. Candidates must visit the official MHA website, mha.gov.in, to register. The portal for applications opened on August 23, 2025, and will close at 11:59 PM on September 14, 2025. The application fee is Rs. 550 for all candidates, with an additional fee of Rs. 100 for male candidates from the UR, EWS, and OBC categories.
The selection process is rigorous and designed to identify the most suitable candidates for the technical and demanding nature of the job. It consists of three tiers:
