Record ₹251 Crore Sanctioned for Spectacular Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara

The Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma Jatara, renowned as the largest tribal festival in Asia, is scheduled to be held from January 28 to 31 . The Telangana government is making unprecedented arrangements for the event. Ministers Adluri Laxman Kumar and Sittakka briefed officials on the progress during a high-level review meeting held at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Secretariat .

Under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy , the state government has sanctioned a total of ₹251 crore for the festival. Of this, ₹150 crore has been allocated for preparations, while ₹101 crore is earmarked for the renovation of sacred sites, including ghats and other holy places. Officials noted that this is the highest-ever funding allocated for the festival. Authorities were instructed to ensure smooth coordination across all sectors , including infrastructure, transportation, sanitation, medical services, and security, so that devotees face no inconvenience .

During the meeting, Principal Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao highlighted that the Chief Minister is personally overseeing the arrangements . He emphasized that all works must be completed within the scheduled timeframe , traffic control measures should be strengthened (including drone monitoring ), and the communication system should be improved to provide timely information to the public. Special attention was also instructed for sanitation and cleanliness .

Mulugu District Collector T.S. Divakar stated that preparations are being made keeping in mind the possibility of up to 40 lakh devotees per day . During the occasion, the official logo, mobile app, and promotional videos for the festival were released. The state government reiterated its goal to organize the Medaram Jatara at an unprecedented level , showcasing Telangana’s culture and traditions , while providing permanent infrastructure facilities for devotees.
