Reality TV Star Shiyas Kareem Accused of Cheating Woman Partner of Lakhs

Actor and reality television personality Shiyas Kareem has been booked by police on charges of cheating, outraging the modesty of a woman, and criminal intimidation , following a complaint filed by his woman business partner, officials said on Tuesday.

Kareem, who rose to prominence through Malayalam television and gained wider recognition after appearing on the reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam, has been accused of cheating the complainant of lakhs of rupees on the promise of a partnership in a proposed business venture.

According to the complaint, the woman who was based abroad came into contact with the actor through social media, and the two later entered into a business arrangement. She alleged that despite receiving the agreed investment, Kareem failed to honour the partnership and did not return the money.

The complainant further claimed that when she sought a refund, Kareem allegedly threatened her , leading her to approach the police.

Based on her complaint, a case has been registered under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. Additional charges under Section 79 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation) have also been invoked.

Police officials said a detailed investigation is underway , and Kareem is expected to be summoned for questioning soon .

Meanwhile, Kareem has denied the allegations , stating that the dispute is purely business-related and that he would cooperate with the investigation. He maintained that the claims made against him are baseless and would be addressed through legal channels.
