Rashtra Prerna Sthal to get inaugurated today, executed by Lucknow development authority

The Rashtra Prerna Sthal, a landmark national memorial and inspirational complex in Lucknow, is set to be inaugurated today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of the 101st birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

The project is a government-led initiative, conceived, funded and implemented under the supervision of the Uttar Pradesh government. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), a statutory body under the state government, has been the nodal agency responsible for planning, construction and execution of the project.

Officials said the Rashtra Prerna Sthal has been developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 230 crore and is spread across nearly 65 acres, making it one of the largest memorial and inspirational complexes in the state. The project has been envisioned as a permanent national asset aimed at promoting leadership values, nationalism, public service and good governance.

While the project remains fully government-owned, private firms and artists were engaged for specialised work through official tendering and contractual processes. These include the construction of the 65-foot-high bronze statues of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, as well as elements of architectural design, landscaping and museum installations.

A major attraction of the complex is its state-of-the-art lotus-shaped museum, spread over approximately 98,000 square feet. The museum uses digital, interactive and immersive technologies to showcase India’s national journey and the contributions of the three leaders to the country’s political and ideological development. Private technology and design firms contributed to these features under the supervision of government authorities.

Officials noted that due to its scale, artistic detailing and advanced technological components, the project was developed over several years. However, ownership, management and long-term control of the Rashtra Prerna Sthal will continue to remain with the government.

The inauguration of the complex today is expected to mark an important step in preserving and promoting the legacy of Atal Bihari Vajpayee and other prominent leaders, and the site is expected to serve as a lasting source of inspiration for present and future generations.
