After sinking her teeth into the gory vampire realm in Thamma , Rashmika Mandanna is diving headfirst into a whirlwind of love, confusion, and raw feelings in her next outing. The trailer for The Girlfriend dropped, offering a gripping glimpse of her character grappling with a haunting dilemma is it genuine love for her boyfriend or merely an illusion of him?

Released by the team on Saturday, the film is helmed by Rahul Ravindran and features Dheekshith Shetty in a crucial role alongside Rashmika. It kicks off with her character Bhoomi timidly proposing a ‘short break’ to boyfriend Vikram, swiftly clarifying it’s a full-fledged separation, not a mere breather.

The narrative flashes back to Vikram’s initial proposal: ‘There’s a muhurat tomorrow let’s tie the knot.’ He’s utterly convinced Bhoomi is his ideal match, while she remains tangled in doubt.

Rao Ramesh, as Rashmika’s father, lands a searing line,’Having a daughter without character is my misfortune’, signalling the film’s deep emotional and ethical conflicts. The promo weaves romance, heartbreak, and toxic ties, delving into the nuanced greys of contemporary relationships. Rashmika steps into a role worlds apart from her past avatars.

Overall, The Girlfriend trailer captivates with its unfiltered emotions, relatable vibes, and hard hitting dialogues, bound to spark buzz among cinephiles. The movie hits screens on November 7, 2025, in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.

Penned and directed by Rahul Ravindran, the project is bankrolled by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Vidya Koppinidhi. Hesham Abdul Wahab composes the score, with Krishnan Vasant handling cinematography. Last year’s teaser featured Vijay Deverakonda’s voiceover lauding the heroine’s charm, paired with shots of Rashmika arriving at college with luggage. The film arrives on November 7th.
