Actress Rashmika Mandanna, now known as Rashmika Deverakonda, has launched Project Annapurna, a charitable initiative aimed at providing essential food supplies to 400 families in need across South India. The initiative seeks to ease household expenses and encourage people to help underprivileged communities.

Project Annapurna covers eight locations: Hyderabad, Mahabubnagar, Anantapur, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Kodagu and Vijayawada. Each food kit contains 75 kg of rice, 10 kg of wheat flour, 15 kg of mixed pulses, 10 litres of cooking oil, ragi, spices and tea.

Rashmika plans to support 400 families at a time for three months each, continuing the programme over the course of a year. The assistance is intended to help families reduce their grocery expenses and use the money saved to plan for their future.

Sharing the initiative on social media, Rashmika explained that helping others has always been important to her. Although she had previously kept her charitable activities private, she decided to speak publicly about Project Annapurna to inspire others to contribute to society. She encouraged people to begin with small acts of kindness, emphasising that even modest efforts can make a meaningful difference.

The actress also connected the initiative to Jayamma, her character in the upcoming historical drama Ranabaali. She expressed gratitude to her fans for their continued love and support, saying that seeing the families' smiles made the struggles, injuries, sleepless nights and emotional challenges she experienced during her career feel worthwhile.

Meanwhile, Rashmika is preparing for the release of Ranabaali, directed by Rahul Sankrityan and starring Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. Set against the backdrop of the Great Madras Famine of 1876–78, the period drama features Vijay as Ranabaali and Rashmika as Jayamma. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on October 16, 2026.

Through Project Annapurna, Rashmika aims to provide practical assistance to families facing financial difficulties while inspiring her followers to support their communities.
