The blockbuster spy thriller “Dhurandhar” , starring Ranveer Singh as intelligence agent Hamza Ali Mazari and directed by Aditya Dhar , is set to release in Japan on July 10, 2026 , marking another major step in its global expansion.

The film, which also features Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan , originally released on December 5, 2025 , and emerged as one of the biggest Indian hits worldwide, reportedly grossing over ₹1,300 crore globally .

For its Japan rollout, the film will be presented under the title “Operation Dhurandhar” , with the makers unveiling a vibrant yellow Japanese-language poster designed to connect with local audiences while retaining the film’s high-energy espionage tone. The promotional material was also shared via the film’s official social media handles , signalling a focused international marketing push.

Industry sources note that the Japan release is part of a broader strategy to position “Dhurandhar” as a global Indian spy franchise , expanding its reach beyond traditional overseas markets. The film’s strong performance has already helped establish it as a key player in the growing trend of Indian action cinema targeting international audiences .

The franchise momentum has been further strengthened by its sequel, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” , which has added significantly to the series’ commercial success and global visibility.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala highlighted that the franchise’s overseas traction reflects increasing acceptance of large-scale Indian films in markets like East Asia. He also noted that the sustained box office performance of the series has sparked discussions within the industry about its long-term potential in challenging major global benchmarks set by Indian cinema.

With the Japan release approaching, the makers are banking on the film’s blend of stylised action, espionage drama, and star power to appeal to a new international audience, further strengthening the franchise’s global footprint.
