Randeep Hooda Shares Picture With John Cena From ‘Matchbox: The Movie’ Sets

Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has shared pictures from his Hollywood film Matchbox: The Movie, featuring a photograph with WWE superstar and actor John Cena. The post offered fans a glimpse of Hooda’s experience working on the action-adventure film and reconnecting with familiar faces from the Extraction franchise.

Hooda took to Instagram on Tuesday to share moments from the project, highlighting his reunion with director Sam Hargrave, who previously collaborated with him on the Netflix action film Extraction. Reflecting on the experience, the actor described the film as an opportunity to catch up with old friends, strengthen professional bonds and create new memories.

“Matchbox was a great excuse to catch up and hang out with my friends from the Extraction team and just make new memories .. and we got to play together a little all over again .. play it again Sam,” Hooda wrote in his caption.

In Matchbox: The Movie, Hooda portrays Mustafa, while Cena plays Sean, an undercover CIA agent whose return to his hometown draws his childhood friends into a dangerous international mission.

According to the film’s official synopsis, Sean’s reappearance disrupts the lives of his longtime friends and pulls them into a high-stakes pursuit to save the world. The story revolves around a missing nuclear warhead, blending espionage, action and the enduring bonds of friendship.

Inspired by Mattel’s iconic Matchbox toy cars, the film is directed by Hargrave, known for his work on Extraction and Extraction 2. It premiered globally on Apple TV on October 9, 2026, making it available to audiences ahead of Hooda’s latest social media post.

The ensemble cast includes Jessica Biel, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, Danai Gurira, Golshifteh Farahani, Corey Stoll and Bill Camp, alongside Hooda and Cena.

The screenplay was written by David Coggeshall. The film is produced by David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger for Skydance Media, alongside Robbie Brenner and Ynon Kreiz for Mattel Studios. Jules Daly also serves as a producer, while Patrick Newall and Elizabeth Bassin are executive producers.
