Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ramayana: Part 1’ Gets A Shorter English Cut For Global Audiences

Ramayana: Part 1, the upcoming mythological epic starring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, will reportedly have a separate English-language version for international audiences.

The English cut is expected to be around 30 minutes shorter than the Hindi version, with the songs being removed to create a tighter narrative aimed at viewers unfamiliar with Indian musical storytelling.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is one of the most ambitious screen adaptations of the Ramayana and is being mounted with a strong focus on its international appeal. The music is composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.

While the shorter version is designed to make the film more accessible to global audiences, the decision to remove songs and reduce the running time could result in a different viewing experience compared with the Indian release.

The Ramayana has traditionally been told through a combination of storytelling, music, devotional elements and elaborate cultural traditions. The full Hindi version is expected to retain these elements, allowing Indian audiences to experience the story in a more expansive format.

The film's international release is scheduled for November 6, 2026, followed by its India release on November 8, during the Diwali period.

With a cast featuring three of the biggest names in Indian cinema and an international creative team, Ramayana: Part 1 is being positioned as a major attempt to take an Indian epic to a worldwide audience. The separate English cut reflects the filmmakers' effort to adapt the presentation while keeping the central story of Rama intact.
