As anticipation for Ramayana reaches fever pitch, the makers appear to be thinking far beyond the Indian box office. Following its grand showcase at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, fresh reports claim the film is set to receive the biggest global marketing push ever for an Indian movie, with Sony Pictures reportedly leading an unprecedented international campaign.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part mythological epic features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana. The ensemble cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, along with Amitabh Bachchan, Lara Dutta, Vivek Oberoi, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Shobana and Arun Govil in key roles.

According to the latest trade reports, Sony Pictures has secured the international distribution rights for Ramayana and is preparing a worldwide promotional blitz worth nearly Rs. 235 crore. The producers are reportedly investing another Rs. 140 crore, taking the combined publicity budget to an astonishing Rs. 375 crore. If confirmed, it would become the largest marketing campaign ever mounted for an Indian film.

The ambitious campaign reflects the makers' vision of positioning Ramayana as a global cinematic spectacle. The film is expected to release in multiple languages across major international territories, with Sony handling overseas distribution while Dharma Productions has already acquired the India theatrical distribution rights.

Industry insiders believe the film is aiming for Hollywood-scale reach. Reports suggest the overseas campaign alone is valued at nearly USD 40 million, making it one of the most expensive global promotional drives ever undertaken for an Indian production.

Adding to the excitement is the film's dream creative lineup. Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman has teamed up with legendary Hollywood composer Hans Zimmer for the background score and soundtrack, while producer Namit Malhotra is backing the project with cutting-edge visual effects through Prime Focus Studios and DNEG.

The buzz surrounding Ramayana has only intensified after its Comic-Con presentation, where early footage and character glimpses received an enthusiastic response from attendees. Yash recently described the film as "fascinating and mesmerizing," while Ranbir Kapoor praised his co-star for bringing Ravana "alive" on screen, further raising expectations among fans.
