“Ranbir Kapoor looks perfect as Lord Ram,” says OG Ram Arun Govil

Now, Arun Govil , who famously played Lord Ram in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan nearly four decades ago, has weighed in. In the upcoming film, Arun takes on the role of King Dasharatha , Ram’s father. Speaking to PTI, the veteran actor shared his admiration for the project and his co-star, saying, “The Ramayana by Nitesh Tiwari looks very good. It has been made with a lot of hard work by Nitesh Tiwari, the actors and the entire team. The main actor Ranbir Kapoor is looking very good as Lord Ram. He is a good actor and good human being. To play a God, you’ve to have a good, pure soul, and you have to be a good human being also.”

Arun’s comments have reassured fans and added to the excitement surrounding the film. With a blend of nostalgia and contemporary filmmaking, Tiwari’s Ramayana promises to offer a fresh yet respectful retelling of the epic, bridging generations of audiences who grew up watching Arun Govil as Lord Ram.
