‘Ramayana: Part One’ to Stream on JioHotstar After Theatrical Run, Ranbir, Yash Lead Epic Cast
Audiences who miss the big-screen spectacle of “Ramayana: Part One” will get another chance to experience the epic at home, with JioHotstar announcing a pay-per-view option for the film after its theatrical run. The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, is scheduled for a worldwide cinema release on November 5, 2026, in multiple languages, including an IMAX 3D presentation.
The partnership between JioHotstar and Prime Focus Studios will allow viewers in India to purchase access to the film separately on the streaming platform once its exclusive theatrical window ends. The offering is designed to bring the cinematic production to audiences across the country in the highest quality supported by their devices.
Nita M. Ambani, chairperson of JioStar, described the Ramayana as one of India's greatest cultural treasures, saying the epic has shaped the country's values and imagination for generations. She said the initiative would use technology to make the story accessible to families and introduce younger audiences to its enduring themes of duty, love, courage and goodness.
Producer Namit Malhotra, founder and CEO of visual effects company DNEG, said the film was created to be experienced on the biggest possible screen, particularly in IMAX 3D. However, he noted that India's cinema infrastructure cannot reach everyone who feels connected to the epic. He said JioHotstar was a natural partner to bring the film into people's homes after its theatrical release.
Produced by Prime Focus Studios, in association with eight-time Academy Award-winning visual effects studio DNEG and Yash's Monster Mind Creations, the two-part live-action project adapts the ancient epic attributed to Valmiki. The screenplay is by Shridhar Raghavan.
The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The wider cast includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Kajal Aggarwal.
Adding to the film's international creative lineup, Oscar-winning composers Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman are composing its music. With its large-scale production, star-studded cast and global release, “Ramayana: Part One” is positioned as a major cinematic retelling of one of India's most enduring stories.
The film will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English on November 5, with the streaming release to follow its theatrical window.
