Ramayana Part 1 Release Date May Move to November 5 Amid Latest Updates

The Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana Part 1 could arrive in theatres earlier than previously planned, with reports suggesting that the makers are considering November 5, 2026 as the new release date. However, the latest official announcement from Sony Pictures currently lists November 6 as the worldwide theatrical release date, meaning the reported November 5 change is yet to receive official confirmation.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the two-part epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, Arun Govil as Dashrath, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and Rakul Preet Singh as Shurpanakha.

The makers recently revealed the official title of the first instalment as Ramayana: Rise of a Legend. Sony Pictures also confirmed that the film will be presented in IMAX and Premium Large Formats, with a 3D experience, and released in Hindi and English. The announcement carried the tagline, “Mankind’s greatest story comes to life.”

The release schedule has undergone several changes. The film was initially promoted with a November 6 worldwide release date, while producer Namit Malhotra later clarified that the international release was planned for November 6 and the Indian theatrical release for Diwali, November 8.

A fresh report now says the makers are looking to bring the film forward to November 5, allowing audiences in India and overseas markets to watch it on the same day. According to the report, the proposed change is aimed at securing a longer holiday window around Diwali. The final decision is still awaited.

The promotional campaign has also intensified ahead of the release. Recent character posters have showcased Ranbir as Ram alongside Sai Pallavi's Sita and Ravie Dubey's Lakshman, while Yash's Ravana has received a separate character reveal. The team has also been exploring digital and international promotions, including a recent event featuring global YouTube star MrBeast.

The film is being produced by Namit Malhotra, with Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman composing the music. Sony Pictures is handling global distribution, while the project has been filmed for IMAX and features visual effects by DNEG.

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is planned as the first part of a two-film saga, with Part 2 scheduled for Diwali 2027. For now, November 6 remains the date publicly announced by Sony Pictures, while the reported November 5 preponement awaits official confirmation.
