
‘Ramayana’ first glimpse unveiled on Hanuman Jayanti, makers promise epic cinematic spectacle
The much-anticipated first glimpse of Ramayana , directed by Nitesh Tiwari, was unveiled on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, offering audiences an early look at what is being positioned as one of the most ambitious projects in Indian cinema.
The two-part mythological epic stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Ravana. Designed for IMAX screens, the film aims to bring a visually immersive retelling of the ancient epic with cutting-edge visual effects.
The makers have partnered with global VFX studios DNEG and ONEg to deliver high-end visuals on an international scale . The project is further elevated by a musical collaboration between Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and Indian maestro A. R. Rahman.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who reportedly viewed an early glimpse, praised the film’s scale, visuals, and Kapoor’s portrayal, describing it as graceful and impactful. Within the industry, early reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with actor Alia Bhatt calling the project “out-of-this-world.”
Kapoor, who took on the role after becoming a father to daughter Raha, is said to have approached the character with a renewed sense of depth and responsibility. The film’s first part is scheduled for a theatrical release during Diwali 2026, with expectations running high for it to emerge as a landmark global offering from Indian cinema.
