Ram Charan's upcoming film with director Sukumar, tentatively titled 'RC17', has become a major talking point following its grand launch in Hyderabad on November 1. While the film's intriguing pre-look poster has triggered speculation about its storyline, rumours suggesting that it is a remake of the Gujarati blockbuster 'Laalo: Krishna Sada Sahaayate' have now been dismissed.

The speculation gained momentum after the makers unveiled a peacock-feather-inspired poster featuring Ram Charan's face, accompanied by the tagline 'You Can Imagine'. Several fans began wondering whether the actor would portray Lord Krishna in a mythological drama. However, the filmmakers have not revealed the genre or storyline, leaving audiences guessing about Sukumar's plans.

The remake rumours gathered further attention because 'Laalo', directed by Ankit Sakhiya, emerged as a massive box-office success. Made on a modest budget, the Gujarati film reportedly collected over Rs 100 crore worldwide, becoming the first Gujarati production to achieve the milestone. Its story revolves around an auto-rickshaw driver who gets trapped in a farmhouse and experiences visions of Lord Krishna, leading to a journey of self-discovery.

However, reports clarifying the speculation point out that Sukumar had announced 'RC17' in March 2024 and had already completed a substantial portion of its script before 'Laalo' arrived in theatres in 2025. Therefore, the two projects are not connected.

There have also been reports about a possible Telugu remake of 'Laalo', but Ram Charan is not part of that project. Other actors have been linked to the remake speculation, although no official casting announcement has been made.

The November 1 launch ceremony marked the reunion of Ram Charan and Sukumar after their critically acclaimed 2018 blockbuster 'Rangasthalam'. Megastar Chiranjeevi attended the event and gave the ceremonial first clap, officially beginning the film's journey. The project is being developed as a pan-India film.

Meanwhile, Anirudh Ravichander has been confirmed as the music composer, while Ratnavelu will handle cinematography. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings in association with T-Series Films, the film's female lead and remaining cast details are yet to be announced. The makers are expected to reveal more details in the coming days.
