Ram Charan's Peddi Trails Two Smaller Films on Netflix Despite Blockbuster Box Office Run
Ram Charan's Peddi may have emerged as one of the biggest theatrical hits of 2026, but its OTT journey has started on a surprisingly different note. The sports drama has made its digital debut on Netflix in multiple languages, excluding Hindi, but it is currently trending at No. 3 , with two comparatively smaller titles staying ahead of the big budget entertainer on the platform.
The film, directed by Buchi Babu Sana , became one of the year's highest grossing Telugu films by collecting over ₹338 crore worldwide during its theatrical run. Powered by Ram Charan's star power, emotional storytelling and sports backdrop, Peddi enjoyed a long run in cinemas and attracted millions of moviegoers across India and overseas.
However, the OTT response has been more measured. While Peddi has comfortably entered Netflix's Top 3 trending titles , it is currently behind two smaller releases , showing that theatrical success does not always translate into OTT dominance. The film is nevertheless among Netflix's most watched titles this week and continues to draw viewers across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The Hindi version is yet to arrive on the platform.
Industry observers believe the absence of the Hindi version may have limited its reach, while others point out that many fans had already watched the film on the big screen during its successful theatrical run. At the same time, social media discussions suggest a section of viewers who skipped the theatrical release are only now catching up with the film on Netflix, helping it maintain steady viewership despite intense competition.
Peddi stars Ram Charan in the title role alongside Janhvi Kapoor , Shiva Rajkumar , Jagapathi Babu , Divyendu Sharma , and Satya . Featuring music by A.R. Rahman , the sports drama follows the journey of a gifted village cricketer whose life takes a dramatic turn before he fights his way back through extraordinary determination.
