Ram Charan’s Peddi set for box office clash with Dhanush’s Kara , Suriya’s Karuppu on April 30

Ram Charan’s highly anticipated Peddi has officially locked April 30, 2026 as its theatrical release date, setting the stage for one of the biggest South Indian box office clashes of the year. The big-budget pan-Indian film will now compete with Dhanush’s Kara and Suriya’s Karuppu , both of which are targeting the same holiday window.

Originally scheduled to arrive on March 27 , Peddi was pushed to April 30 due to pending shoot schedules and extensive post-production work . Director Buchi Babu Sana and his team are reportedly working around the clock to complete the film on time as expectations around the project continue to grow.

Mounted on a massive budget reportedly exceeding ₹250–₹300 crore , Peddi is already among the most expensive Telugu films ever made . Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead, portraying the village character Achiyamma , whose first-look poster recently went viral online. The film also stars Shiva Rajkumar , Jagapathi Babu , Divyenndu , and Boman Irani in important roles. Music is composed by A. R. Rahman , marking the first collaboration between Rahman and Ram Charan.

Set in 1980s rural Andhra Pradesh , the film revolves around a spirited villager who brings his community together through sports to defend their pride, blending village drama, sports action, and mass entertainment . Industry buzz around the film has been strong, with its songs already generating attention and promotions gradually building ahead of its summer release.

For a big-budget pan-Indian spectacle like Peddi , a solo release is crucial—especially during the opening weekend . However, the presence of Kara and Karuppu during the same window could divide screens and audiences.

In Tamil Nadu , films starring Dhanush and Suriya are likely to receive first preference from local audiences , which could limit Peddi ’s box office potential in the region. Even in the Telugu states , the two Tamil films could secure a share of theatre screens, reducing the overall footprint for Ram Charan’s film.

Despite the competition, the clash could also turn the April–May holiday corridor into a festival for moviegoers , with three major stars bringing large-scale entertainers to theatres at the same time. Whether Peddi emerges as the dominant winner or shares the box office with its Tamil rivals will become clear when the films finally arrive on the big screen.
