Ram Charan, Nelson Dilipkumar’s new collaboration creates buzz across south film circles
The Indian film industry is no stranger to stories and scripts shifting between stars, one actor dropping a project only for another to pick it up, or films being reshaped due to scheduling issues. Now, Tamil filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar seems to be in the middle of such an exciting development, one that’s caught the attention of fans across industries.
After delivering the massive blockbuster “Jailer” with superstar Rajinikanth, Nelson has become one of the most sought-after directors in the South. Known for his sharp storytelling and slick elevation sequences, he turned a simple plot into a cinematic spectacle that stormed the box office, grossing over ₹700 crore worldwide. Following that success, all eyes have been on what Nelson will direct next and the latest buzz suggests a major pan-Indian collaboration might be on the cards.
At present, Global Star Ram Charan is busy filming “Peddi”, directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The movie, which is more than halfway through its shoot, is scheduled for a March 27, 2026 release to coincide with Charan’s birthday, though insiders say it could arrive in theatres even earlier. The director recently revealed that a romantic track from the film will be unveiled soon. After “Peddi,” Charan is confirmed to team up with Sukumar for his next film, tentatively titled “RC17”, to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers a combination that already has fans thrilled.
However, the latest talk in industry circles is that Ram Charan has reportedly given the green signal for a new project with Nelson Dilipkumar. According to Tamil media reports, Nelson, who is currently shooting “Jailer 2” with Rajinikanth, has narrated a script to Charan that the actor was highly impressed by. Buzz suggests that Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music, and the film will be backed by Lyca Productions, one of Tamil cinema’s biggest banners.
While the collaboration has yet to be officially confirmed, the rumour has set Tollywood and Kollywood fans abuzz. Interestingly, Nelson was previously linked to a possible project with Jr NTR, rumored to be produced by Sithara Entertainments’ Naga Vamsi, and expected to roll out in 2026. But now, all eyes are on the potential Charan–Nelson combination.
If the project is finalized, one big question remains: What happens to “RC17” with Sukumar? Will Charan juggle both films or prioritize Nelson’s? Regardless, the prospect of Nelson’s dynamic direction paired with Ram Charan’s global star power has fans and trade experts eager to see what cinematic magic the duo might create.
