Rajasthan Youth Forced to Lick Shoe After Alleged PM Awas Yojana Scam Attempt
A youth was allegedly made to lick the sole of a shoe as a form of public apology after he was caught attempting to cheat villagers by posing as a government official in Kabri village under Hindoli police station limits in Rajasthan’s Bundi district.
According to local residents, the man arrived in the village on Saturday claiming to be a Village Development Officer (VDO). He allegedly approached women in the village, promising benefits under various government welfare schemes, including allotment of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) , and reportedly collected ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 from them for processing formalities .
However, suspicion arose among other villagers, including some young men, who questioned his identity. When asked to produce official identification, the youth reportedly admitted that he was not a government official and returned the money he had collected.
Following this, villagers allegedly made him apologise publicly, and a video that later surfaced on social media shows him licking the sole of a shoe three times while repeatedly saying, “I will not repeat such a mean act in the future.”
The incident gained attention after the video went viral on Sunday. Police identified the accused as Manraj Prajapat , a resident of Rein village under Dablana police station limits in Bundi district. However, officials said no formal complaint has been filed by villagers, and therefore no case has been registered so far.
Hindoli Circle Inspector Mukesh Yadav said another individual involved in the incident, identified as Lokesh Meena , who allegedly made the youth perform the act and recorded the video, has been cautioned for taking the law into his own hands.
Police said they are also investigating whether the accused youth may have been involved in similar cheating cases in the region.
